It is now well into the month of February and the Lunar New Year of the snake fast approaches. As you may know, Alastair Heseltine, of Hornby Island, joined us to head a week-long series of workshops to create a beautiful woven willow snake. The snake is currently in wait at the interior Dr. SunYat-Sen garden.
We are also pleased to announce that CBC On the Coast’s Michelle Eliot will be interviewing our Winter Solstice lantern artist, Jacquie Rolston, on Lunaria. Celebrating this Friday, February 8 at 3pm, Lunaria will make an appearance at International Village Mall on Pender and Abbott.
Next Sunday, February 10 Lunaria will be at Granville Island taking part in the Lion Dance from 10:30am – 12:30pm. Come join us on February 17 as CACV will take part in the Spring Festival Chinese New Year Parade with the support of the Downtown Eastside Harmony of Nations Drumming Group and UberDrop – more details here.
Stay tuned for our updates as we wind up for the new year celebrations in the coming weeks!
