The super rad folks at Make Creative, a design agency, commissioned 15 illustrators to make art posters based on their favourite hip hop lyrics. The resulting show is called Design Rules Everything Around Me (D.R.E.A.M.) and launched on October 1st at their gorgeous gallery on 7th Ave just east of Main St. CACV was there to celebrate the opening, represented by new Executive Director, Chris Gilpin, DTES Community Arts Program Coordinator Kelty McKerracher, and Board Member Valerie Smaller.
How is CACV involved in this project? Well, the Make team decided that all art sales proceeds from the show would be donated to CACV. Make, you really are awesome.
If you missed the opening, you can still view the art work by visiting the gallery Thursday and Friday 4-6pm and by appointment. Or, another great option, is to browse through the online store Make has created and order one of the prints via PayPal. They’re perfect holiday gifts and you can choose to pick them up framed or unframed (the frames they are using are very nice, btw). Get your hands on this limited edition custom artwork. There are only 15 prints being made of each design.
