The Community Arts Council of Vancouver was incorporated in the Province of British Columbia in 1950. Here are the purposes from our constitution:
The purposes of the Society shall be to increase and broaden the opportunities for Vancouver
citizens to enjoy and to participate in cultural activities and to improve the quality of the city, and
shall include the following:
a) to help coordinate the work and programs of cultural groups in the city
b) to stimulate and encourage the development of cultural projects and activities
c) to render service to all participating groups
d) to act as a clearing house for information on cultural projects and activities
e) to foster interest and pride in the cultural heritage of this community
f) to interpret the work of cultural groups to the community, enlist public interest and
promote public understanding
g) to bring to the attention of civic and provincial authorities the cultural needs of this
community.
