The Community Arts Council of Vancouver (CACV) is seeking a Project Assistant who will work directly with the Executive Director and Program Manager to support the CACV 75th Anniversary digital project and assisting in Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival (VOAF) activities from October 13-17, 2022.
Compensation: $25/hr for 15 hours per week, Duration of role: 16 weeks, Total Hours: 240
The work is flexible as a hybrid role, so the work can be remote with expectation to access our office located at the Woodwards Building (111 West Hastings St) and must be able to work in-person during festival dates.
The role is funded by the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) and the candidate must be a post-secondary Education student.
Eligible students are:
- Registered as a student in a recognized Canadian PSE institution in any program or field of study
- Legally allowed to work in Canada according to the laws and regulations of the province territory where they work
- Either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person granted refugee protection under the law.

Project Assistant Role:
CACV 75 project
- Support with scanning and digitizing CACV 75th Anniversary archival material
- Converting (scan to text) the “Arts and Our Town” book to publish online as text format with images
- Developing a CACV 75 archival website with profile interviews
- Develop a CACV 75 digital timeline
- Develop CACV 75 website with archival material
Festival support
- Assist with data entry and logistics for the artists
- Assist with festival production including stage management, front of house, art sales
- Assist with marketing and communications duties including social media, blogs and outreach with media, scheduling future social media posts
- Be present on key dates including: install/de-install, festival days from October 13-17, 2022
- Attend weekly meetings with all staff
- Additional duties as assigned
Core Competencies:
- Relevant education and/or professional experience, 1 year minimum
- Collaborator who can adapt to different styles of thinking and communication
- Strong organizational and task-management skills
- Excellent communication skills both digital and in-person
- Strong in Word and Excel, can use Mac or Windows OS and basic Google tools including Calendar & Drive.
- Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
- Shared values with Community Arts Council of Vancouver
Other Skills & Experience:
- Previous arts festival and event experience is an asset
- Experience in collaboration with diverse individuals, including people facing social exclusion, people with disabilities, marginalized/equity-seeking communities
- Social action creative practice i.e. previous commitment to intersection of arts and social change
